Can't believe no one has posted about the INSANE two night run at the Indy. For my money, Friday was a very good show, Saturday was incredible, probably the best Biscuits show I've seen.

Unbelievable energy in there both nights. Both very sold out, but they did a good job not overpacking the place, plenty of room to maneuver, adequate dance-floor space.

Friday -- Spaga>Handcuffs>Spaga was monumental, the Magellan was relentless....the Echoes was a real mind-f*ck, although I was very much in the upbeat dancin' mood, so it slowed things down a bit, but once I gave into it and appreciated the majesty of it, I was blown away.

Saturday -- straight outta the gate with the Triumph opener, sickly dropping into just the middle of Jigsaw Earth......then a big House Dog had the whole place out of their minds again......2nd set was all pro, starting with the rockin singalong of Lithium.....somewhere in the Crickets that came out of MEMPHIS, it was already one for the books....and then it kept going for another 1/2 hour or more, through a great inverted Buddha>Abyss.....I remember hitting the bathroom during the break and people were just laughing at how ridiculous it was.......couldn't have asked for more out of the encore, Plan B (which I love) into a tasty ambient jam for a few minutes, then dropping into Safety Dance, one last singalong and off into the night

Also props to Falcor on the late nights at 12 G's, on Friday saw the whole Moonshine Still set (ripping), with Allen sitting in for much of it......and then Saturday with the New Mastersounds raging it until 4:45

great weekend.....Biscuits, y'all come back now, hear?

ted :)
Set II: Lithium> Munchkin Invasion2, M.E.M.P.H.I.S.> Crickets3> Digital Buddha3> The Great Abyss

Can someone explain this to me, please? I have deduced from various message boards that Buckets is some sort of side-show percussionist that has been playing with Bisco for a month or so. I have read things like: he is terrible, he leads group rhythymic clapping at the shows, and they are thinking about adding him on full-time. To me, this is a disturbing development. I could understand a guest appearance for one song at a show every now and then, but it seems like he has been on stage at every show. Can anyone shed any light on this topic?

On another note...it looks like the boys have added yet another tune to their arsenal. They have covered Floyd's "Echoes" a couple of times. I can't wait to hear this. "Meddle" is my favorite P.Floyd album and that song has tremendous potential. I have heard electron and Conspirator cover "Fearless" off of this album, but "Echoes" has potential for a long, spaced out trance section. Has anyone heard this live or recorded?

Then we got something I'm pretty sure they haven't done before: we're calling it "I-copters." They played both "I -Man" and "Helicopters" simultaneously. It wasn't like they jammed in to copters from I'man. They rotated through a section of each symmetrically. Pretty amazing stuff. Space Bird and "Save the Robots" were other highlights. Barber is from another planet for sure. It is a treat to watch Magner work as well.

Brothers Past will be blowing peoples’ minds tonight at the Goodfoot Lounge (2845 SE Stark, Doors @ 9pm, BP @ 10:30pm), with special guest Afroqben.

Do yourselves a favor, and check these guys out…you won’t be disappointed!

For a lil’ taste, here’s a great show you can download free:
http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=34235

[PRESENT]
Philadelphia's Brothers Past is emerging as one of the most talked about independent acts in the nation. The band conjures a new energetic sound, merging rock anthems with electronic exploration. Their new CD, This Feeling's Called Goodbye, released at a sold-out Bowery Ballroom in New York City, is drawing accolades from the press and within the industry. Glide Magazine wrote, "Brothers Past focuses on the art of songwriting in a unique way that sets them apart from the pack. When you combine strong, well-written catchy songs… with electronica laden powerhouses… you get a detailed glimpse into the future of music."
This Feeling's Called Goodbye further demonstrates Brothers Past's powerful crossover appeal. Four songs have begun to receive airplay. Too Late to Call is gaining enthusiasm among indie-rockers while State Police, Everything Must Go and Leave the Light On are attracting interest from other types of rock stations. The band partnered with producer Jon Altschiller (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Phish, Lenny Kravitz) and the results were evolutionary: original rock splashed with elements of electronica and modern dance music. Experimenting with mood, effects and shifting tempos, the songs move, yet the album remains concise and cohesive. Multiple songwriters showcase the band's vision for songcraft, creative arrangements and inspired emotional lyrics.
[PAST]
Brothers Past has gained a reputation as a thunderous live act with an ever-growing repertoire of songs and sounds. Recently, the New York Press called Brothers Past, "the square-jawed, bastard child of Pink Floyd with a gigantic stage show." Playing over 650 performances since 2000, the band brings their futuristic brand of improvisation to create concerts that seamlessly weave dance segments between their large and varied catalog of active songs. Consistent sell-outs of premiere venues in New York and other northeast cities, along with many near capacity shows throughout the country, attest to the band's rising popularity and momentum.

Past work includes the September 2004 five-song EP, statEPolice, which Chicago's Innerview called "Delicious." December 2002's A Wonderful Day, a concept album about insomnia and paranoia was deemed "Excellent, eccentric, engrossing" by the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Philadelphia Daily News wrote, "This group jumps out as something special on its futuristic concept album." In December 2001, the band conceived Elements, an experimental studio album mixing live recordings with computer sequences to produce an altogether new sonic tapestry. Richard Gehr of the Village Voice exclaimed, "Elements has style. It's one of the first great post-Phish trance-fusion albums and sounds like Pink Floyd jamming with Sasha and Digweed in Brian Eno's bedroom."
[FUTURE]
Continuing to support This Feeling's Called Goodbye, Brothers Past embarks on a full schedule for winter and spring 2006, including a coast-to-coast national tour leading up to prime festival appearances this summer. Throughout the year the band will be headlining theatres and top clubs across the country. Brothers Past has accepted a deal with SCI Fidelity for the album, and continues to develop more forward-thinking partnerships.
The members continue to write prolifically, already penning new songs for their next studio release. Sessions are planned for coming months, with at least one release already scheduled for 2006. The band will continue to innovate and bridge the past with the future.
Brothers Past is Tom Hamilton (vocals, guitar, laptop), Tom McKee (keyboards, vocals), Clay Parnell (bass, vocals) and Rick Lowenberg (drums).

This ensemble means so much to me and has been pivotal in my musical development. I hadn't seen them since High Sierra in 2003 and just didn't know what to expect.

The first set was pretty mild and gave me a chance to calm down and settle in. The second set was absolutley beautiful. The boys are on point and ready to take over the world. I am so excited for the future of the Disco Biscuits. I really feel like they are refreshed and committed to their success.

Their set at the festival grounds was so much fun. 30-40 minute I-man was absolutley yummy. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering setlists but I know I heard a fatty "Safety Dance" somewhere as well.

Conspirator show was a blast as well. Uber-mega community vibe and acettobee encore.

Anyway,....anyone else in Florida last weekend? Any thoughts?

I know some of you have seen them plenty of late but for a west-coaster it's been pretty tough. Good to have you in the band.

On April 13th, 14th, and 15th, the Biscuits will set up shop for a three night run to kick off Spring Tour, the first of such in three years!!!

Although all of our plans are not yet set in stone, we can tell you that from the Green Mountain State, the tour heads south for a run of shows in North Carolina, Virginia, and DC. This southern run will be anchored by three shows in Allen's home state of Georgia!!!

The band will then head directly back into the studio to begin the recording of their next Studio CD!!! They will spend the rest of May crafting their newer sounds into a complete work, and then they will get right back out on the road.

The second leg of the tour, which begins in early June, will cover the Central Plains States before heading out west for a few choice festival slots and a handful of club, theater, and ballroom shows along the way.

We will post dates as soon as they are confirmed for the purpose of our fans being able to make travel plans at their earliest convenience. Of course, occasionally there are factors that lead to shows being added along the way, and in those cases we promise to be as forthcoming with information as we can. We appreciate your patience as we take the time to make sure that all of our plans are perfect so that the live show experience can be as enjoyable as possible for everyone!!!

Hey Everybody! It is my pleasure to announce that U-Melt will be hosting another late-night New Year's Eve Celebration in New York City. This year, the party will be at club CODA, which is a very cool up-scale venue on 34 E. 34th St. (b/w 5th and Madison). I am also excited to announce that this year, there will be lights brought to you by Bryan Holroyd for you to enjoy while grooving to the music!
The NYE show is 18+, and tickets are only $15 until 12/15, then $20 from 12/16 on. Doors for the show will be at 2:15 am on late-night NYE, technically 1/1/06. The show will begin around 2:45 am and go on till the wee hours of the morning!

Club CODA is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan, easily in walking distance from The Black Crowes and The Disco Biscuits shows occurring earlier in the night at MSG and Hammerstein Ballroom (and walking distance from the Irving Plaza/Union Square and Times Square areas), as well as a short cab ride from Gov't Mule's s how at The Beacon and many other shows and spots you might find yourself bringing in the new year.

Tickets are now available and can be purchased on-line at http://www.coda34.com. After the great success of last year's late-night NYE show, I would encourage everyone to buy tickets ahead of time and take advantage of the discounted price, this show very well might sell out! See you there!!

Conspirator
Conspirator featuring Aron Magner and Mark Brownstein from The Disco Biscuits alongside DJ Omen. A deep blend of trance and groove space -- a musical, mental ride that resembles the soundtrack of the film Baraka.

BLVD
BLVD is a three-piece band that fuses live instruments with electronic samples to create a cohesive whole. Combining elements of house, breakbeat, trance, drum-n-bass, and hip-hop their high-energy sound is perfect for the dance floor. Drummer Dylan McIntosh surrounds himself with an array of acoustic and electronic drums, merging beats and samplesto lay down an unwavering rhythmic foundation. Electric guitarist Curtis Sloane adds tight melodic riffs and looping patterns, as well as triggering programmed samples. Bassist Tripp Bains glues the sound together with a deep low end and fluid pounding attack.

I've gotten a lot of e-mails asking for more details about what Marc is doing for the evening, so I'll tell you what I know. At around 9:45, Marc and Eenor are going to do a short set together. Marc will be sitting in with other musicians throughout the night, and at midnight or so, there will be a "superjam", for want of a better term, that Marc will be involved in.

You now know everything I do. I hope to see you here for this fun night for a great cause.

Gaia's jigsaw earth is free.
Early in the morning, rise and shine, and the world is callin'.
Gaia's actuality.
Sky, the ground, and a place to roam,
Circus in a bubble, a place called home.

I gathered myself, and rubbed my eyes, and wondered, did she know?
That I put glass and concrete beams as tall as trees can grow.
That I tear down the oldest statues, faces who've grown long
She may have known, may not have cared, continued with her song...

Gaia's jigsaw earth is free.
Early in the morning, rise and shine, and the world is callin'.
Gaia's actuality.
Sky, the ground, and a place to roam,

fall is usually my favorite time of year to see this band
fall 2000 and fall 2002 were my two favorite runs of shows yet but this fall without question was my least
(even during fall 01 and spring 02 which i didnt love, i at least wasnt bored out of mind)
nothing to do with being jaded(well maybe sometimes), im just not fan of too much variety in the setlist
webster was pretty good...outstanding compared to the rest of the fall but still not up to expectations of greatness that i have...fuck the bullshit and give me the goods over new years month
